This fun 40"x56" I-Spy quilt is the result of 76 different I-Spy fabrics -- ALL SCRAPS. I am obsessed with I-Spy, and have kept all the skinny little leftover bits from my swap fabrics. The result was a huge pile of strips -- I still have at least this many more!
I dove into this project without a plan. First I laid out all the strips and created two piles: boyish and girly. Then I separated the boyish ones by width. I cut matching widths from some white fabric I had on hand and sewed both ends of one 20" strip to both ends of each strip, creating a loop. Then I cut the white strip randomly so I would end up with varying lengths of white on either side of each strip.

I really enjoy the process of making quilts without a pattern or a plan -- not to mention the challenge of using only what I have on hand. There's just something about it that really tickles my creative side! I can't wait to do it again!

I love this twist on the I-Spy quilt. It's very cool.
Now I know what to do with the odd strips from a strip swap! Great idea. Thanks
I like it ! I like the front AND the back !
I like the quilting, too !
I love this style of quilt and I really like that you turned it into an Eye Spy. Great!
Nice! Nice! I really like this. I also like I Spy. When I first looked at this in the thumbnail I was reminded of a stack of books sitting in my sewing room! I am becoming a follower! Karen
Very great idea to use strips! Cute, cute, cute!
What a very fun and novel idea for I Spy! Everything a child's quilt should be, imo, bright and colorful!

you did a great job with this one. Are you going to make a girly one too?
This is adorable! It first caught my eye because it looked like a stack of books. I'm a reader, and that would be a perfect quilt for me.
I love how you stitched the rows in loops. Very inventive.
This is such a clever idea for an eye spy quilt!! Its wonderful!!
I think I'm going to have to make an I spy quilt for my girls! or perhaps some I spy place mats to keep their attention to themselves while eating out :)
I too saw a stack of books. This is a really clever idea. Well done.
Love this! very eye catching.
Loving this. So cute! I too enjoy making things with stuff on hand ... It is somehow a really good feeling to make something new and useful without having to purchase anything ...
I like how you just casually throw together a quilt this detailed without any plan :) So talented!
BTW, Avery is loving her I-Spy book more than ever now :) She will sit and look at her books for the longest time, she's really studying and trying to understand what she's looking at. So cute!

This is a terrific take on an I Spy quilt! And a clever method of creating the off-set lines. I'm going to have to remember this idea. Thanks!
