Fall Swap Stuff

A couple weeks ago I participated in a Fall Favorites Swap. I haven't heard from Melonie, but I must assume she's received her package by now. Here is what I sent:

Yep! That's the fleece throw from my tutorial a couple weeks ago!

I made this little fleece "Candy Corn Guy" for her 18-month-old son. His arms and legs are made from a dollar store shoelace. (Don't worry, I stitched them a zillion times to make sure they wouldn't fall out!)

I made this little "Candy Corn Skirt" for her four-year-old daughter. I thought it turned out pretty cute! I hope it fits her.....

And this is what I received from Meka, who swapped to me! The little hat is just ADORABLE on JellyBean, and my boys are loving the candy corn pencil case. And the bows! The CUTEST!!

Thanks, Meka!

Postcard SwappySwap

This week I participated in a fabric postcard swap. Here is what one of mine looked like:

I used the measuring tape left over from this project, along with scrap fabrics, fusible webbing, and silver thread for the pins and needle. I like how they turned out!

It was one of those simple projects you can get done in one short sitting with a great result. If I come across another postcard swap, I will definitely be doing it again!

I-Spy Fabric Swap!

First of all, let me explain what an I-Spy quilt is. You know those books where there is a photo of a million bajillion objects and you have a list of a few things to find? Well, this is like that -- except BETTER, because it's FABRIC. Who doesn't love fabric??

So. My sister-in-law Susan and I (who are equally I-Spy obsessed, I might add...) are heading up an I-Spy Fabric Swap. There are lots of details, so please read and consider carefully before signing up.

In the poll I took, the majority of voters preferred 4 1/2" squares. HOWEVER, after doing a little math, it is much more economical to go with 4" cut squares, which will end up 3 1/2" finished, so this is the size we'll go for.

THE BASICS:
Mail 200 squares to me by October 10th.
Get 200 squares back, all different, by October 31st.

THE DETAILS:

~1~ In order to keep our sanity, we are keeping this swap small-ish. The first 18 people to comment are in. [If you live outside the U.S., that's just fine -- but please mail your fabrics a little earlier so there's plenty of time to meet our deadline!]

~ 2 ~ Cut 20 4" squares out of each of 10 different novelty print fabrics. a 1/4-yard cut or fat quarter will get you 20 4" squares, so you will be purchasing a total of about 2 1/2 yards of fabric. This is NOTHING when you think about all the different squares you will be getting back!
~ 3 ~ In order to avoid duplicates, everyone will need to search out unusual or obscure prints. Look for things that aren't available at chain stores.

~ 4 ~ Remember that we are looking for fabric with objects on it, not printy-prints. (A fabric with FLOWERS on it is very different from a FLORAL PRINT.)

~ 5 ~ No "licensed" prints: No Disney, Dora, L.A. Lakers, etc.

~ 6 ~ Remember seam allowances! Be sure you can tell what you are looking at within a 3 1/2"x3 1/2" square. (Depending on your fabric choice, you may need to buy more than 1/4 yard in order to get an object into each cut square.)

If you want to join me in this obsession, leave a comment here that includes your email address!!
