Yes, I'm still here.....

I am still here, still sewing (sewing is LIFE!), still obsessing! I didn't mean to be absent from the good ol' bloggy for so long! Thought I'd pop in and show you a few things I've been up to....

Little dresses -- for Blythe, of course! These ones fit "middie" sized Blythe, who is 8" tall. The next photo shows what she looks like....

The finished dresses are about 3 1/2" tall, with fully lined bodices and lots of gathers. I must say, when working this tiny -- I admit -- I have become a fan of pinning! (Gasp! Shock!!)

....and I've been making even TINIER ones.
These dolls are 4 1/2" tall, including their big ol' heads. Their finished dresses are 1 3/4" tall -- and the bodices are fully lined. I have to say, it takes a certain amount of OBSESSION to do it -- and enjoy it, too! :o)

Happy Independence Day!

Happy 4th of July!

My niece is in town -- yay! -- and she brought her dollies! We got together last night, along with my sister-in-law, and sewed away. This is one of her girls at the parade this morning, wearing a patriotic outfit we made.

She is QUITE a seamstress herself, and has made her little girlies some of the CUUUTEST outfits, like this one:

She has created her own patterns. And, she makes the most ADORABLE headbands for them -- something I've never attempted! She has even woven the ittiest bittiest little friendship bracelets for them. Incredible!

It was TOO FUN to hang out and talk dollies with her!

I'm back!

It was an amazing trip!! I met the most amazing people, ate the most incredible food, and stayed at the most beautiful historic hotel.

And, of course, the best part -- my traveling companion was my mom! :o)

We each made little mini-me outfits for our girls. Too fun!

This little pirate outfit represents the most time I have ever spent sewing any single dolly outfit. And every minute of it was SO FUN!

I love all the itty-bitty details -- from the white, lace-trimmed under dress (with puffy sleeves, of course!), to the leather vest, to the big ol' gold hoops, sword, and black satin skirt. I love how it turned out -- and I love this girl! :o)

And, of course here's little Matilda in the little sailor dress I made for her. This one took hours and hours, too -- and I just LOVE how it turned out!! (My mom made her adorable hat!)

After my trip, my brain needs a "reboot" -- and the swimming lessons continue, taking up a serious chunk of the day. So, needless to say, there isn't going to be much sewing this week -- but I will be back next week with some fun stuff! :o)

Where My Brain Went.....

The kiddos have had swimming lessons daily for two weeks now, with another two weeks to come. Needless to say, that is sucking up a lot of my project time!

I'm heading to Portland in two days to attend BlytheCon 2011!!

I am so completely geeked about it, and have been sewing up a storm getting theme-appropriate outfits ready for my Blythes. My mom is coming too -- the Blythe bug has bitten her as well!

I promise to share a few photos of the VERY detailed outfits I've been working on, as well as other projects, next week sometime. As for now, my To Do List is a mile long and only shrinking SLOWLY! Off to the sewing room!!

Must Share... LPS Blythe Deal!

My sister called me this morning to let me know there are LPS Blythe coupons in yesterday's Sunday paper! $5 off! And, I happen to know (not that I obsess or anything!) that LPS Blythe was on sale at KM*rt for $8.99 (regularly $12.99-$14.99) over the weekend, and Scooter Blythe was on sale for $14.99 (regularly $20). $5 off that is a fantastic deal! They are also on sale at W*lm*art for $10.

They were in this coupon insert, on the last page. Wouldn't one of these girls be so cute in your daughter's Easter basket? (...Or your own??) ;oD

If you're my sister...

If you're my sister and it's your birthday this weekend -- stop reading! :o) I have two sisters with birthdays this weekend. Lucky for me, they both love Littlest Pet Shop* and therefore have been wanting some little 4" LPS Blythes. Hooray, an excuse to make teeny-tiny clothes! (Not that I *need* an excuse, but -- ya know!)

I put together these little cuties for L. I had so fun picking out things that would coordinate nicely for some mix-and-match. I attached each piece to one small sheet of cardstock with a tiny stitch here and there. All she has to do is snip the thread on the back and pull all the outfits off. Instant tiny wardrobe!

These ones are for K. I sent her a doll as well, and the pieces of the doll's original clothes will also coordinate well with the little pieces I made. I know that she (and her daughter, if she shares!) will have a great time playing!

One more thing:

I just realized today that I never posted a photo of all my tiny Blythes on the new shelf my husband helped me install above my sewing table. Here they are -- all 20 of them! (NOT THAT I'M OBSESSED OR ANYTHING!) It makes me so happy to have them there with me while I am sewing! *Perhaps obsessing about cute little tiny toys runs in the family? Hee hee!

Hanging out, Doll clothes -- and a new girl!

The weather teased us with a few really great sunny days in a row, but now we're back to cold cold cold. The kids have gotten very creative in their play, and most games this week have included a lot of mommy playing too. It's been great fun! I have been working on a few little projects here and there, though -- mostly dolly clothes! :o)

First of all -- this is my new girl! I adore her! This is my second attempt at this dress pattern with just a few adjustments from the original. I just adore the style, and can't wait to stitch up a few more with some fabrics I've purchased specifically for this pattern.

Here's new girl (no name yet) and Meredith getting to know each other. Meredith is wearing the MOST ADORABLE little hand knitted sweater I purchased on etsy. There are lots more colors, and I will definitely be ordering at a couple more. (Check out Louisa's shop HERE!)

Telling secrets already! I've also been sewing for my tiny girls. I made a big batch of spring tops for them (birdies and bees!), and had just enough time to get a photo of them enjoying the sunshine before it SNOWED the next day! I made two of these little A-line shifts, too -- I adore the little geese! And, last but not least, my pathetically late posting of St. Patrick's Day outfits for the girls:

Blythe Clothes Obsession....

For the last couple weeks I've obsessing like crazy over my Blythe -- the bigger one. After all, I've had her for nearly two years and have been neglecting the poor girl as far as her wardrobe is concerned!

Of course I have to start with my very most favorite creation -- this sweet little lace dress. I adore every detail!

So far I've used quite a few patterns from this Japanese pattern book. (Search "Doll Coordinate Recipe" on ebay -- this one is volume 11.) Just thumbing through and looking at the photos is RIDICULOUSLY fun. There is so much attention to every detail!

All the instructions are in Japanese, which I don't speak or read, but there are easy-to-follow diagrams that guide you in numbered steps. So far I've only come across one or two things that were tricky to figure out.

I adore the scale of the paisley, and the blouse pattern, but maybe not together? Still thinking on that one. I think I'll use the same paisley fabric for something a little more girly....

More Tiny Valentine Dresses

I know, I know! I doubt very many people care to see my dollies -- so this post is all for MEEE!

I love my tiny Blythes, and have been obsessing over making a tiny Valentine dress for each one. I have to start out with my favorite:

Somehow her dress just feels so "I Love Lucy" to me! And they said redheads should never wear pink.... Shows how much they know! :o)

And what is that little thing on her desk?

I adore it! (Big surprise! What, ME? Love TINY things??)

That last one is my least favorite. It definitely doesn't suit that particular girl. But I have a red and black lace number I'm working on for her -- and I think it will be perfect!

Hee hee!! LOVING it!!

Working in such a teeny-tiny scale for clothing is definitely not an easy task, but I love it!

My favorite is the lace trim at the bottom! :o)

Mini Blythe Dress

I finished a huge project over the weekend, and as a reward I allowed myself to make a little something for one of my mini Blythes. I love how it turned out! The A-line style really suits her -- and I love the vintage rick-rack trim. It had been a while since I'd sewn something in such an itty-bitty scale, but I remembered a few things I had previously discovered along the way.


I do need to work on the method a little bit. As you can see, there is a little bit of fraying in the arm holes. But overall I am very pleased with her tiny little dress. I especially like it with her tall stockings!

A New Doll Obsession!!!

By now you probably know that, along with many other things, I am obsessed with dolls. Yes, I like making things for baby dolls and for 18" dolls, but my favorite has to be fashion dolls. Especially somewhat odd ones. (Example!)

I also obsess about tiny things. I collect tiny little toys, such as Barbie accessories, quarter machine toys, tiny game pieces, etc. I also collect tiny 2" stuffed animals. I have always loved little miniature versions of just about everything!

Now. I was shopping in the toy aisle the other day (for me, yes, it's ridiculous), turned a corner, and -- my eyeballs just about fell out!!

Tiny Blythe dolls!!!!

These tiny girls are a collaboration with Littlest Pet Shop -- and are SO. STINKING. CUTE.
(Obviously I don't care too much about the pets, but my sisters collect them, so... win-win, right?)
Blythe is quite an expensive girl, but these little ladies are about $13 each, with their little pet friends and a couple more accessories not pictured. They are nicely made; their heads swivel and tilt, their arms and legs move, and their clothes and even their shoes are removable. That's the clincher right there -- wardrobe possibilities!!
Absolutely worth their weight in gold, I tell ya! :o)

Here they are with my regular-sized Blythe, whom I also adore. But, make way, big Blythe! Your little dolly friends are going to need a serious wardrobe!!

I confess, I keep going into my sewing room (where they live) to stare at them.
