POT HOLDER WEEK continues!!
How about a little padded makeup pouch?
It's perfect for travel!
All you need is one pot holder and a matching zipper. Make sure your zipper has adequate extra length so you can sew it onto the pouch without too much trouble!
STEP ONE: Fold your pot holder in half to decide how you want it to look. I decided I liked the stripes to run vertically.
STEP TWO: Open your zipper and stitch one side of the zipper onto one side of the pot holder.
STEP TWO: Zip your zipper shut, then line up the zipper on the other side of the pot holder and pin in place. Unzip the zipper and sew.

This is what it will look like. Having all that extra length in your zipper makes it much easier to sew on!
Cute! Love it!

ReplyDeleteAwesome - I love potholder week! :)
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog and I love it! I'm not a sewer but it's totally inspiring me to get my mom's machine out! I think these potholders will be great as make up holders or wallets for my teen nieces. I can't wait to try it out!
ReplyDeleteGreat tutorial, and so easy, thanks for this !
ReplyDeleteYou should know that I am away for home for a couple of weeks currently. Before leaving, I sat at home today with my giant (and I mean GIANT) makeup bag trying to decide what was most important to take with me. Then I realized I didn't have a travel-sized makeup bag. I ended up substituting a zippered pen/pencil case.
ReplyDeleteThank you very, very much for this tutorial!!
That is such a perfect idea! I love it, thanks for the tutorial!

I think this is so clever. Too bad I have a zipper phobia or I would definitely make some. LOL
ReplyDeleteI love these!!! I have allll the things I need to make em but when I started to sew the sides it was too thick and my needle broke in like 3 pieces! Ahhh. What size needle did u use? Did you encounter this at all??
ReplyDeleteHi Megan,
ReplyDeleteI never did break a needle sewing these... I used a regular 80/12 needle. Using a heavier needle (maybe a denim needle?) might help. Or, if you dare, try again with whatever needle you have on hand and go s.l.o.w.l.y over the thickest parts.
Good luck!! Let me know how it goes!
Care.
Cute Idea!
ReplyDeletecute & simple! great!
