My friend Heather over at Dollar Store Crafts has a brand new baby boy, so of course I had to whip together a little "welcome to the world" present for him!
It is (yet) another Disappearing Nine Patch quilt. I am in love with that pattern! It's quick, it's cute, and it really showcases fabrics!
As for the quilting, I started without a plan. I guess I like to wing it -- although there is usually a moment of panic in the middle of quilting where I don't know what to do next! I started by quilting the "bones" -- the lines between the blocks -- and then quilted those big ol' stars in the larger squares. Then I didn't know what to do next, so I moved on to the binding. After binding it I decided to just quilt larger stars around the originals. Don't look too closely -- it's pretty obvious it's been a long time since I've quilted a quilt! The stitch lengths are pretty uneven! I guess that just means I need to make more quilts... I can handle that!!
I'm happy with the way it turned out. I was SO tempted to wash it so I could see how squidgy it would get -- but I refrained.
And I LOVE those colors!!!

ReplyDeleteWhat a great quilt! I love the DNP. It does show off the fabrics nicely. Plus, each quilt still looks different depending on how you put it all together.
ReplyDeleteI love the colors you chose for this quilt!
