Mary, Mary Quite Contrary

How does YOUR garden grow?
I guess gardening is like crafting in some ways... I put it in the same category as "making things with my hands." It is fun to see what a little bit of work will produce!

Our pear tree is just a little guy, but for the past two years he has been doing his very best to produce as many pears as his little branches can handle. We've been picking some here and there to ensure he doesn't hurt himself!

We've successfully grown bell peppers for about four years now -- look at this beauty!

This cherry tomato plant seems to think he is a tree. That is a six foot fence behind him!

Look at this little freak tomato! WEIRD.

What are YOU growing in your garden this year?

  1. I'm embarrased to say that my gardening skills SUCK! I can't ever remember to water anything & plants ususally die if I even look in their direction! That said, I really need to plant a tomato plant or something. I think my 3 year old would really enjoy growing something.

  2. Love the little tomato - it's liek it has a parasitic twin! (sorry, just watched something on TV about them, LOL).

We've made salsa from the tomatoes our garden has produced so far. I tried planting a raspberry bush - I think I got two, the birds got another two, and that was about it this year!

  3. Deer food, that's what! We had a few tomatoes, onions, and potatoes before the deer hit. I hope they are enjoying all our hard work. Yesterday, we put up some old caution tape to try and deter them but as I told my husband. I don't really think they can read;)

  5. LOVE this post. We are growing tomatoes, squash, zucchini, egg plant, lavendar, apples, carrots, radishes....I think that covers it. We have LOADS of green tomatoes on our monster plants and I watch every day, mouth watering for ANY sign of a color change but so far, they just keep making green tomatoes. One day, they will explode and I'll be eating tomatoes 3 meals a day plus snacks.

  6. Living in a city we don’t really have a garden…sad I know! Even the little pot of lavender we had on the balcony died during our holiday! However in my imaginary garden I am growing cherry tomatoes and courgettes and raspberries by the fence under the apple tree…hmm, I think we should get an allotment! Lovely post, thank you!

  7. We've been loving having our own garden this year, except.... it has become the rabbit's garden! :) Mr. Rabbit doesn't seem to like squash or zucchini, however, so we have been enjoying many squashy delights!

  8. How fun! We are growing bell peppers, jalapeno peppers, tomatoes, strawberries, onions and pumpkins. :) Some little animal is loving the everbearing strawberries, but fortunately, leaving all the rest of the garden for us! Gardening is so fun (and theraputic!)

  9. I think cherry tomato plants are part weed because they always seem to grow out of control.
