I'm joining in the fun over at Amy's Creative Side with the Spring Bloggers Quilt Festival!
Today I am sharing a recent favorite quilt -- my all black-background I-Spy quilt! I just love the look of this quilt, with it's all black-background spies (in pairs! It's a matching game!) and the bright pop of turquoise in the border, binding, and backing.
I started this quilt last December when I really needed to procrastinate getting some Christmas gifts done. Turns out, though, that it made the perfect Christmas gift for my nephew -- and it also renewed and rejuvenated my soul to create something so fun! Timing is everything, even when you may not think you have the time! I had so much fun going through my ridiculous stash of I-Spy squares and sorting out all the black ones. In fact, my stash is SO ridiculously big that I was even able to pick and choose things especially special to my nephew -- even with the color limitation I gave myself.
I love it!
ReplyDeleteYour i-spy quilts are awesome!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE I-Spy quilts. I am a big fan of novelty fabrics. You must have an amazing selection in your stash to do one just from black. It looks cool. I am making an I-Spy quilt now with 400 different squares -- plus more in the border -- so Fun!
ReplyDeleteLove this quilt. It's so pretty and inspiring. Keep up the fantastic work.
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous, I love the colours :)
ReplyDeleteBlack--what an original idea
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun I Spy Quilt. Love it.
ReplyDeleteOh my. You might have just inspired me to actually try my own I-Spy quilt. As long as there are two of each square. Imagine how many hours could be spent searching for the matches! I love it.
ReplyDeleteIve made a few "I Spy" quilts and think they are as much fun for the maker as the kids that get to play with it. I like the idea of putting pairs. I am also amazed you found that many black prints.
ReplyDeleteVery nice! I've made about 10 I Spy quilts and now every time I make it a different way (just for fun, because it's boring always doing the same thing). I love your black background one -- and the turquoise is a great choice to make it pop!
ReplyDeleteI totally understand why this must be one of your favourite quilts! It is just precious!!! I love the black background!
ReplyDeleteVery nice! Love the black I-spy thing!
ReplyDeleteLove it! Can't wait to do an I-spy someday
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun I spy. I bet he loves playing wit it and cuddling in it.
ReplyDeleteHi:) I absolutely love this quilt. And I wanted to let you know that I used your angry birds tutorial, it was fabulous and really easy to use btw, and I posted a pic of my finished product to my blog http://a-life-of-smiles.blogspot.com/ . I linked to your blog and the tutorial for the angry birds from the post. Thanks so much for making the tutorials:D
ReplyDeleteI really like your I Spy quilt! My BQF entry is an I Spy quilt, too.
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt. I was just wondering when you are going to do another swap or if you knew of any? I was also thinking about doing one myself. Is it hard to do?
