About two weeks ago myboys and I went through my extensive I-Spy square collection so they could pick out squares they wanted for quilts of their own. (They have had the same quilts on their beds since they were babies. Definitely time for something new!) They had a FANTASTIC time going through and picking out things they liked -- and of course it was super fun for me too!
They picked out the fabrics for the sashing squares and borders.
They each also picked the fabric they wanted for the back. Mr S went with a rocket print, and Buzz went with a map print. Then of course I discovered another pile of I-Spies I'd forgotten about, and since the backs needed to be a little bigger anyway, they each picked out a bunch more to go on the back.
Of course I couldn't stop the I-Spy fun there, so Mr S has a stars on his binding...
...and Buzz has itty-bitty candy corns on his!
I finished piecing the tops and backs on Friday, quilted them both and attached the bindings on Saturday, and hand-finished the bindings last night -- just in time for bedtime...
...and they had to sleep with flashlights so they could check out all the I-Spies in their beds!
(I used my Disappearing Nine-Patch: I-Spy Version tutorial for these quilts -- SUPER EASY!)

That's so fun!!! You are so fast, and they look amazing!
They look fantastic and how wonderful that your little guys loved them so much! Nothing makes our sewing and quilting and cooking and cleaning and...and... more fun than when it's appreciated!
How cool is that?!
You are a madwoman! Two quilts in a weekend. Huh. It took me how long and I. Am. Spent.
How fun! I love them. I'll have to finish my first one first...and then maybe someday I'll do an I spy!
They look great, and you did that so quickly too!! Nice work!
NICE!! Hoping to make my boys an I-Spy quilt soon too. :)
These quilts sat half-finished in your sewing room for so long as other things took priority-I'm so glad you got the chance to finish them this weekend! They turned out great! Happy boys.
Oh I love them!!! I am definately going to be making these this year....although for 3 boys I need to build up my stash!! Thank goodness I am in the swap4!! Or is it 5???

I'm sure they will have mountains of fun with them!

I LOVE the same-but-different look!
Such cute quilts for a couple of lucky boys! I like how they coordinate, too.
Wonderful. I still need to finish the simple 36 inch square I spy play mat I started last year. With three little ones three and under, life is extremely busy right now.
By the way, I read in a comment that someone wanted you to add a blog button with the code so they could put it on their blog. Would you be interested in trading something for a blog button with code box? Let me know.
Oh my goodness, I don't know what to say! They are awesome! And how could you ever do this in such a short time!!!! I am in shock!
well...they are great of course!!
but how on earth do you manage to do it so fast?!!
fantastic work!
These are adorable. And I still haven't finished my 1st Quilt Ever!
