Last year was my husband's maternal grandparents' 60th anniversary. In preparation, his sisters and I went to work on a quilt commemorating the event. We have a yearly family reunion at the family cabin, so we took the opportunity to have all the descendants there make a block with an applique version of themselves. Luckily we also had lots of help making the blocks for the people who weren't there too!
We used mainly retro 30's prints. We hand embroidered first names on each block, as well as the grandparents' names and the date they were married. I absolutely love the jagged edge, although it was a bit tricky to bind. For them, I would do it again in a second!
Grandma S comes from a line of women who made quilts, so an anniversary gift of a personalized quilt was a most appropriate choice!
