Thanks for the great tutorial! I too LOVE my free-motion machine foot. It's priceless! I never considered doing a tearaway pattern. MUCH simpler, methinks :)
I really liked your article on UCreate. Thanks for sharing your insights. You've certainly inspired me to create a fleece blanket using your fun technique. And now I look forward to following your blog.
So much fun having you on Ucreate today!! I have been a fan for awhile and it was so great to learn a new technique. I think many of us beginning quilters finally know what to do with the free motion foot! Thank you again!
I saw your "secret method" and decided to try it out on a quilt I am making. I am having a problem though, and wondered if you might have some advice. My machine uses a darning plate instead of the separate needle (it won't fit). When I use it, the loops on the bottom are too large. I've played with the tension and stitch size as well as the speed that I push the fabric around. What can I do to make everything look tighter? Thanks in advance.
I'm not sure what the problem could be. Anytime I have the "looping on the back" problem, it's most often related to tension in some way. Other times I just rethread my whole machine, including the bobbin, and it corrects the problem. I'm not familiar with the darning plate, though, so maybe it has something to do with that?
I'm sorry, I wish I was more help! Let me know if you figure it out; I'd be interested to know!

I really love this quilt. And I especially love the free motion foot! I'm on the hunt now.
